Women in Sectional Title hosted a thought-provoking conversation with Helen Zille, who shared her insights into the challenges facing Johannesburg and what they mean for sectional title owners, trustees, managing agents and property investors.
The discussion explored the factors contributing to the city’s decline and considered how municipal performance directly affects the sustainability, safety and value of community schemes. Attention was also given to the growing backlog of disputes at the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) and the impact this has on effective governance and dispute resolution.
The conversation highlighted the close relationship between municipal leadership, service delivery and the success of sectional title schemes, while examining why Johannesburg has become a critical indicator of South Africa’s future. It also prompted important discussion around the role of accountable governance, resilient communities and informed decision-making in protecting property investments and ensuring the long-term sustainability of community schemes across the country.
