Low attendance at body corporate meetings is an all-too-common complaint by managing agents.

It is true that many meetings are not managed well, creating fatigue and frustration, but a meeting between a group of owners, whether it is in person or virtually, produce better ideas, plans and decisions than trustees on their own. It also helps individual owners understand the collective aim of the scheme and the way they can positively contribute to increase the asset values of their complex.

How can we improve attendance at meetings and run more efficient meetings that makes everyone feel part of something productive and purposeful?

For our first WiST webinar of 2023, we discussed determining quorums, proxies, notice requirements, voting and resolutions, and laid out 11 golden rules for the chairperson to remember when presiding over meetings. We also looked at different strategies that you can use to ensure an efficient, well-attended and productive sectional title meeting.
