Event 13: Electricity Regulations Act – Implications of the Recent Amendments.

This webinar took place on Wednesday 22 September 2021.

Electricity Regulations Act:

Implications of the Recent Amendments.

Recently, on the 12 August 2021, some significant amendments to the Electricity Regulation Act 4 of 2006 were published in the Government Gazette.

Of particularly importance to the sectional title industry, is the amendment that provides for a community scheme to operate its own power plant without registering with, and procuring a license through, the Energy Regulator.

This regulation basically means that a complex can feed excess electricity back into the grid and receive a rebate from the municipality.

What are the pros and cons of the new regulations, and is this a viable option for sectional title schemes?

In this webinar, we talked to Glen Van der Vyfer from Maxlite about the amendments, its practical implications and how to evaluate the various opportunities these amendments present.
